Now Hiring: Mental Health Peer Support Specialist

As a Peer Support Specialist, you'll provide strength-based, recovery-oriented services to others navigating mental health and substance use challenges. You'll be part of a dynamic behavioral health team, working in both one-on-one and group settings, empowering patients to achieve wellness and purpose.

What You'll Do:

• Deliver peer-led emotional support, advocacy, and recovery coaching

• Partner with patients and the treatment team to foster resilience and long-term recovery

• Facilitate outreach, education, and support in homes, schools, and community spaces

• Promote trust, hope, and engagement through your lived experience

• Document clinical notes and care interactions within 24 business hours

• Help shape a recovery-positive culture both within and beyond WVHC

What You Bring:

• Personal experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery (minimum 2 years stable recovery required)

• Passion for helping others and ability to meet people where they are

• High School diploma or GED

• Willingness and eligibility to become a Wyoming Certified Peer Support Specialist within 6 months of hire

• Valid driver's license and willingness to transport patients if needed

• Cultural humility and respect for diverse individuals and traditions

• Flexible, dependable, and compassionate attitude

Preference will be given to qualified Eastern Shoshone tribal members, then other qualified federally recognized Indian tribal members and then other qualified candidates.

• Applicants must submit a copy of Tribal Enrollment card or CIB for Indian Preference.
• Veterans who meet the minimum qualifications and provide documentation of an honorable discharge (DD214) from any branch of military service are entitled to receive preference points during the interview process.

Any offer of employment is contingent upon a negative drug test, reference checks and background check. Refusal to undergo required testing or testing positive will render the applicant ineligible for employment.
